Clanitra L. Stewart
Attorney II
After receiving her B.A. in psychology from the South Carolina Honors College at USC, Clanitra earned her law degree from the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University in Macon, Georgia. While at Mercer, Clanitra also received a Certificate in Advanced Legal Writing, Research, and Drafting and the CALI Excellence for the Future Award in Advanced Legal Research. Additionally, she served on the Moot Court Board and received the 2000 D. Meade Field Memorial Award for Outstanding Performance in Workers' Compensation from the Florida Workers' Compensation Institute.
Clanitra was admitted to the Georgia Bar in 2000 and practiced law at Georgia Legal Services, where she represented indigent clients in civil cases. After joining the South Carolina Bar in 2003, she worked for the law firm of Berry, Quackenbush & Stuart, P.A., in Columbia as an Associate Attorney. In 2005, Clanitra returned to public interest law as the Hunger, Housing, and Community Economic Development Attorney for the South Carolina Appleseed Legal Justice Center, where she now assists the low-income community through policy advocacy in those areas.
Clanitra's memberships include the South Carolina Black Lawyers' Association, the South Carolina Women Lawyers' Association, the South Carolina Bar Association, and the State Bar of Georgia.
