Amanda Adler

Amanda Gibson Adler is an attorney working on the Nelson Mullins Student Advocacy Project at the South Carolina Appleseed Legal Justice Center. The Project was created to help serve low-income special education students in South Carolina who are not receiving the educational services to which they are entitled. Through her work on this project, Ms. Adler helps in case screening and placement and in providing outreach and education. A new goal of the Student Advocacy Project is identify the systemic issues for our students and the areas in which challenges are particularly acute with the goal of working jointly on a systemic solution.

Ms. Adler began her legal career as an Equal Justice Works Fellow at South Carolina Appleseed Legal Justice Center working on education policy in South Carolina, and also received the Nelson Mullins Riley and Scarborough Centennial Fellowship in that capacity. She has written training materials and presented on education law and policy for a wide range of audiences, and her special interests include issues involving teacher policy, students in homeless situations, and English Language Learners. Ms. Adler is a former educator and worked in public schools in South Carolina and Georgia. She has a law degree from the University of South Carolina and a B.A. from Emory University.
